Wizard Magic
Magic Performance Mini-Camp

CAMP LOCATION
Office Barn Loft

Each day, we will take ordinary objects found around the house, and I will quickly learn together how to turn them into amazing objects of magic!

As you practice these tricks, you will also learn how to build strong connections between you and your audience. Very important to the Great Wizard Hammond, is helping you learn to meet new people, look them in the eye with confidence, speak with courage and amaze them with professional stagecraft.

Friendship Crafting
Multi-Craft Camp & Mini-Camp

CAMP LOCATION
Office Barn Loft

The heart of this camp will be creating, making friends and having fun together! Each camper will experience a wide variety of crafts. They'll have the chance to make their own choices on craft types, colors, and more. Through our time together, Tabitha, the facilitator, will weave in stories of life lessons and skills. Some of these lessons and skills include approaching others with confidence and creating solutions that help them achieve success.

Loops and Knots
Knitting and Crocheting Camp & Mini-Camp

CAMP LOCATION
Office Barn Loft

A few years ago, Jonna, our facilitator, was in an auto accident. During the crash, she suffered a severe concussion. Her doctor suggested she be quiet and still, and to stay away from bright lights and loud noises. After several boring weeks of this, Jonna nearly went crazy!

She started knitting and crocheting for short periods and soon realized that she felt much while knitting. Over time, Jonna learned how powerfully the act of knitting and crocheting can heal and focus the mind. So this camp is much more than learning a skill - it’s about developing an ability that will bring a lifetime of peace, focus, and accomplishment.

The Lego Challenge
Lego Engineering Camp

CAMP LOCATION
Hay Barn Schoolroom

In our LEGO summer camps, we will be using kits and curriculum designed to help students master concepts of engineering with mechanisms, structures, and forces. The activities we engage in will promote students’ STEM understanding of simple and powered machines.

Students will come away from the camp with an understanding of basic engineering, architecture, and mathematics principles. They will also have the chance to improve skills in problem-solving and public speaking as they confront challenges and explain reasoning and solutions to their peers.

Electronic Inventions
Laptop Coding Camp

CAMP LOCATION
Hay Barn Schoolroom

Campers will quickly assemble their own pi-top module laptop and become oriented on how to create things like an LED light and sound show, musical instruments, and games. Campers will create really cool stuff during class by using a simple electronics kit that will teach them the basics of wiring and coding.

By the end of the class, they will have created many simple inventions that we will post to our camp blog (so parents can see) and will be prepared to invent new things after camp by following a host of accessible online tutorials as well as through their own creativity! The laptops also come with a lot of software that kids can use on their own at home to learn more about coding and have fun.

Chess at the Ranch
Chess Camp & Tournaments

CAMP LOCATION
Office Barn Loft

Our first priority is to have fun! There will be a lot of interaction, competition and laughing at ourselves. Chess will be used to teach life lessons like helping with concentration, taking risks, improving logic, navigating rules, taking responsibility for actions and solving problems in uncertain environments.

And have we said that chess is ridiculously fun? Our facilitator has connections with professional, state, and nationally-renowned chess players and will invite some of these folks to join us, share their stories, as well as their greatest secret moves at camp when they are available. If you choose to participate in the 3-hour Friday tournaments, you will not only compete and win medals, but will also eat pizza and make new friends!

Intro to Family History
Family History Mini-Camp

CAMP LOCATION
Hay Barn Schoolroom

In our time together, we will help you set up your family tree on FamilySearch.org. (a completely free Family History resource) You will build your tree based on the information you already know.*

We will then begin to explore vital records and census records to start filling in your tree with new details. You will also learn how to attach documents, pictures, and memories to your ancestor.

When you leave, you will have the fundamental knowledge to complete an ancestor search and the ability to add that information to your family tree.

* Class attendants should bring names and dates of their parents and grandparents if the information is available. If information is available for great-grandparents, bring that as well.
