The heart of this camp will be creating, making friends and having fun together! Each camper will experience a wide variety of crafts. They'll have the chance to make their own choices on craft types, colors, and more. Through our time together, Tabitha, the facilitator, will weave in stories of life lessons and skills. Some of these lessons and skills include approaching others with confidence and creating solutions that help them achieve success.
Loops and Knots: Knitting and Crocheting Camp
A few years ago, Jonna, the facilitator, was in an auto accident. During the crash, she suffered a severe concussion. Her doctor suggested she be quiet and still, and to stay away from bright lights and loud noises. After several boring weeks of this, Jonna nearly went crazy!
She started knitting and crocheting for short periods and soon realized that she felt much while knitting. Over time, Jonna learned how powerfully the act of knitting and crocheting can heal and focus the mind. So this camp is much more than learning a skill - it’s about developing an ability that will bring a lifetime of peace, focus, and accomplishment.
The Lego Challenge: Lego Engineering Camp
In our LEGO summer camps, we will be using kits and curriculum designed to help students master concepts of engineering with mechanisms, structures, and forces. The activities we engage in will promote students’ STEM understanding of simple and powered machines.
Students will come away from the camp with an understanding of basic engineering, architecture, and mathematics principles. They will also have the chance to improve skills in problem-solving and public speaking as they confront challenges and explain reasoning and solutions to their peers.
Build Your Own Laptop: Computer Construction and Coding Camp
Assemble all the parts of a pi-top module laptop and learn the essential functions of each major component. Program your new laptop to produce some remarkable results in class. Learn enough coding basics to create up to 20 different games and inventions after the camp is over!
Build My Own 3D Printer Camp
Camp participants will assemble their VERY OWN 3D Printer! Campers will also learn the concepts behind 3D printing, the major components of their printer, how to “dial in” their printer to improve print quality, and where to find resources to continue to expand this hobby.
Participants will leave the camp with a desktop 3D printer, a spool of PLA filament, a handy reference guide, printed model(s), and a fun new hobby to enjoy the rest of the summer and beyond!
Chess is King: Chess Strategies Camp
Chess is the sport of kings! The greatest minds in history used chess to improve concentration, develop strategies, and grow their mental acuity. During this camp, we will teach you the approach great players use to defeat their opponents. You will learn the best openings to catch your opponent off-guard. We will also share strategies for your endgame, to beat your opponent when they are least expecting it!
The Fix-It Adventure: “What Everyone Should Know How to Fix” Camp
Our mission this summer is to bring young adults through a Fix-IT course that will break down basic life skills and concepts in a real and manageable way. We will cover fundamental car care through tech care during the one week course. The hope is these skills will aide campers as they make their way through college and beyond.
Wizard Magic: Magic Performance Camp
Each day, we will take ordinary objects found around the house, and teach you how to turn them into amazing objects of magic! As you practice these tricks, you will also learn how to build strong connections between you and your audience.
We will help you learn to meet new people, look them in the eye with confidence, speak with courage, and amaze them with professional stagecraft!
